Our organic farm has been certified for over 20 years. Our meadows stretch from 800 meters above sea level all the way up to the grounds of the Schneekarhütte. The high alpine pasture has been in our family for generations. We are farmers by conviction and passion, for this is the DNA of our ancestors, our history.
We raise a diverse mix of cow breeds exclusively in a mother-cow system. We don’t dehorn or milk our cows, and our bulls are free from nose rings. Instead, they receive plenty of affection. Our animals enjoy a high quality of life, grazing on various alpine meadows that offer a greater diversity of herbs than lowland farms. The less human intervention, the better the conditions for our animals – which is reflected in the superior quality of our meat.
We prioritize short supply chains, free from chemicals, toxins, antibiotics, or hormones, and offer complete transparency for improved animal welfare and flavor. What we don’t produce on our 370-year-old farm, we source from the organic butcher, Family Juffinger.
By partnering with the Juffinger family, we’ve been able to align our values and set new standards in the Zillertal. While this quality comes at a premium, it’s the only way we can ensure the well-being of our animals and future generations.

Experience the Alps at their finest. Immerse yourself in nature and indulge in the good life. The Bair family is proud to carry on the tradition of the Schneekarhütte, a legendary mountain hut.
We are committed to sustainability, using organic products from our own farm and other local suppliers. Our goal is to provide the kind of experience we would want for ourselves on vacation.
Once, our ancestors lived off the hard labor of the steep mountain fields. Generation after generation, they passed down their knowledge of agriculture and their love of nature.
But times changed, and with them the opportunities. From simple mountain farmers, they became an entrepreneurial family, combining the traditions of their ancestors with modern ideas.
