In the beginning, there wasn’t even a road to bring in building materials. Everything had to be hauled up by chairlift or airlifted in demanding helicopter operations. The construction of roads, water systems, and sewage infrastructure was a monumental undertaking, carried out largely through local initiative.
Our family’s path from mountain farmers to running the Schneekarhütte has been filled with challenges. Losses we’ve suffered have shaped who we are and make us cherish each day here. Nothing in this high-altitude environment is easy.
